We find a fire feature to be the focal point of the Southern California backyard. A gathering place where you and the family can sit together and enjoy a glass while the kids are roasting marshmallows.
Their are so many types of fire features from concrete to natural boulder to decorative statues. To simplify we have broken it down to three categories:
Fire Pits; are typically 18″ inches in height and 4′ wide or in diameter if round. They usually are built with precast concrete blocks and then we either tile, faux facade, or skim coat them. We can build them in a variety of shapes and sizes. Usually custom outdoor fire pits in Los Angeles cost between $5,000 and $8,000 depending on size, proximity to fuel medium. source, etc…
Fireplaces/ Chimneys; Are typically 10′ to 12′ in height and 5′ wide. We typically build these from a precast concrete kit and then customize them with different finishes, custom fire chimney mantels or hearths, etc… A custom outdoor fireplace can cost anywhere from $14,000 and up.
Fire Bowls/ Fire Statues; are usually built on top of pool or wall pillars. They can be pieces of art in themselves. We have built a wide range of fire features including taking custom steel art and modifying it into a fire feature. Costs vary widely depending on customization and complexity.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT FUEL FOR YOUR FIRE
The fire medium is also an important consideration. Do you have natural gas because you live in the city of Los Angeles or do you live in the outskirts of Los Angeles maybe in Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Etc… and only have access to propane or wood?
The city of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Malibu, and other surrounding Southern California municipalities have strict guidelines and code when it comes to fire features in your backyard.
If you have the freedom to choose the medium (natural gas outdoor fire feature, propane, or wood burning can be custom built for each of the three fire feature styles.
Our in house landscaping and outdoor living compliance coordinator can navigate Los Angeles municipality or HOA codes for fire features for you to ensure we are building safely and for longevity.
